Questions builders and architects ask
Who runs the cable on a new build?
The main contractor's electrician runs every Cat6a cable and the mains power, to a cable schedule we produce from the architect's GA drawings before first fix. We meet the electrician on site once before first fix to agree routes, power and mounting. On each job the contractor chooses whether we or their electrician terminate the cables and fix the access points, cameras and readers. Either way, we supply and configure all the UniFi equipment and test and certify every link.
Is the design work charged?
Yes. Site surveys, coverage maps and the priced proposal are design work, which starts once it's agreed with you. Equipment is ordered only after the proposal is signed off.
What do you need from us to start?
The GA plans and elevations, as PDF or DWG, and who the proposal goes to. For a remodel, the drawings of the new layout.
How are payments staged?
In three stages, set out in each proposal. In our sample proposal: half on signing, a quarter when work starts on site and a quarter on completion. See the sample proposal
